Classy Wedding at Historic Gideon Owen Wine Company in Catawba Island, Ohio

September 6, 2020

When I first spoke with Taryn and Jay last December, I recall how they described their wedding vision. Classy. Warm. Intimate. A black and white theme with gold accents and greenery. Their style was traditional with goals of focusing all attention on the emotions of the day. Taryn and Jay reside in Columbus, Georgia, though they had chosen to host their wedding at the historic Gideon Owen Wine Company in Catawba Island close to her hometown of Huron, Ohio. The venue was newly renovated this year … just in time for Taryn and Jay to be the first couple to celebrate their marriage in the new space!

The morning of the the wedding, the gentlemen enjoyed a round of golf while the ladies were in full-on glam mode. There was much excitement in the air. But what really struck me throughout the day were the many moments of real, raw emotion. They are a stunning duo (I mean, REALLY stunning). But, even more importantly, while looking at them, you see a couple in LOVE. They were truly anxious to begin a life together – a driving force in their decision to move forward with their wedding celebration after first postponing it from the spring due to the pandemic. They have many things to which they are looking forward in life, and they were elated to finally be saying “I do”!

After a private First Look between bride and groom, the couple exchanged vows during a sweet ceremony officiated by her grandfather in the venue’s historic wine cellar. The intimate ceremony was followed by formal portraits of family, the bridal party, and romantic photos of the couple before a lovely reception for about 100 of their closest friends and family. Tears of joy were shed during touching words and blessings shared by their fathers, Matron of Honor, and Best Man.

As was said that evening … “Love is not finding someone to live with. It’s finding someone you can’t live without.” Taryn and Jay, I wish you every happiness as you share in life’s raw moments together.
