Kathy and Jim’s Wedding Uniting Two Families in Northwest Ohio

June 15, 2019

You truly never know what God has planned for you. Sometimes there are moments of loss or disappointment which can turn your world upside down. Other times, He brings great joy in moments you weren’t expecting.

Kathy and Jim have been blessed to have a second chance at love and happiness in marriage. With their loving families and a host of friends to witness their vows, they have made a commitment to one another before God.

It had been an especially rainy spring in Northwest Ohio.  Kathy and Jim’s wedding day was no exception.  Plans for an outdoor wedding ceremony beside the beautiful pond on the grounds of the church were changed, but that did not affect the celebration. Throughout the day, the couple invited not only their children, but their grandchildren to play a role in their celebration. Each grandchild carried a flower down the aisle which were later collected and presented to the bride to form her bouquet during the ceremony. Each of the adult daughters read scripture, and family members with whom they only recently were connected traveled from across the country to be present for the joyous occasion.

Following the ceremony, guests gathered in the shelter house for a meal after the groom offered prayer. There was a break in the rain just long enough for the couple to gather with their family for some lovely family portraits in front of the serene park at the venue. The bridal party returned to the shelter house for cake and dancing, surrounded by portraits of the couple’s grandchildren. In a truly selfless gesture, Kathy and Jim requested that their guests make a donation of nonperishable food or personal care products for the local food pantries in lieu of wedding gifts.

Kathy and Jim, I wish you every happiness as you continue on your life’s journey together. It was an honor to be present to document these most precious memories.

Selecting Amy Simkus as our photographer was honestly one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! She is very easy to work and communicate with. While taking pictures, she is a such a hype woman!!
