Chelsea and Thomas’s Countryside Military Wedding in Northern Ohio

June 29, 2019

Two U.S. Army Officers met while taking a challenging physical activity course at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in New York. Despite the challenge, pushing themselves through the course proved to be well worth it since it led to the first introduction between Chelsea and Thomas. Fast forward a few years – shortly after their graduations from West Point – the couple traveled from their base at Fort Hood, Texas to Northwest Ohio for the most special day of their lives.

The couple were united in a lovely Greek Orthodox marriage ceremony filled with special, ancient traditions. We stopped for photographs at a community park on the way to the reception venue. For their celebration with family and friends, Chelsea and Thomas had sought out a venue close to her hometown in Northwest Ohio. A country girl at heart, it’s not a surprise that Chelsea was drawn to the rustic environment at Kilkerrin in Wakeman, Ohio. The main hall sits inside a large red barn, adorned by a giant “Block O” sign for her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. (Thomas is now a fan, too, I hear! ).

There was plenty of dancing and fun shenanigans on the outdoor dance floor before Chelsea and Thomas cut their wedding cake with a saber … one of the many wedding traditions of military couples they incorporated into their day. The bride and groom, as well as friends and family members who are fellow graduates of West Point, sported their uniforms and their United States Military Academy class rings at the wedding. What a fine group of people!  I thank you all for your service. At sunset, the couple’s friends and family gathered for a sparkler exit before dining on a phenomenal taco bar!

Chelsea and Thomas, you each present yourselves with kindness, grace, and respect. I am blessed to know you, as is everyone who has the opportunity to meet you. I wish you every success in your careers, life, and love!  xoxo
