Lake Erie Engagement Session at Ohio’s Maumee Bay State Park with Anney & Trey

June 15, 2020

Why are engagement sessions important? There are so many reasons! Anney and Trey’s portrait session on Lake Erie at Ohio’s Maumee Bay State Park is a perfect example.

I first met Anney at a coffee shop in late February 2020. We were weeks away from an unprecedented shutdown of the world as we know it because of a novel coronavirus. Nonetheless … wedding planning continued in the background!

Anney and Trey plan to take their marriage vows in September 2020 during an intimate ceremony in Florida. They had asked me to capture photos during their larger reception to follow at a lovely venue, The Legacy by Arthur Hills, in Ottawa Lake, Michigan. Since that time, the couple has made the difficult decision to postpone their celebration until 2021 in hopes that they will be able to celebrate more freely while keeping their family and friends safe and healthy.

The time between a proposal and a wedding is SPECIAL, and it only typically lasts for a brief period. This is a season in your life to CELEBRATE and focus on your love for one another. Living during a time of a worldwide pandemic surely helps to put things into perspective … such as the importance of positive, supportive relationships. If you are lucky enough to have found your “person”, embrace that gift! Engagement sessions are intended to capture the love you feel for your partner and to soak up that togetherness. After your session, you will have BEAUTIFUL images to remember this time forever!

I love having couples in front of my camera prior to their wedding day! It gives us a chance to get to know one another and what to expect when it comes time for photos. Sure … I can teach you ALL about posing. But to me, engagement sessions are more about developing a positive relationship with one another. Let’s be honest … it is not uncommon for a guy to be less enthusiastic than his lady about portrait sessions. Right?? At the end of the day, it is my hope that BOTH of you feel more comfortable with the process and that you can leave the session saying, “Wow … that was actually really fun!” I also hope that you feel you have gained a friend in me. 😌

Whether you are planning for a local wedding celebration or are planning a destination wedding elsewhere, I’d love to chat with you about planning an engagement session!

P.S. Aren’t Anney and Trey a beautiful couple??? 😍

Selecting Amy Simkus as our photographer was honestly one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! She is very easy to work and communicate with. While taking pictures, she is a such a hype woman!!
