Intimate Wedding Celebration at Brandywine Country Club in Maumee, Ohio
August 22, 2020
Kayla and Aaron currently reside in Chicago, Illinois. However, a wedding celebration in Northwest Ohio where both of their families live made perfect sense for their long-awaited nuptials!
I had originally met the couple while photographing Kayla’s sister’s wedding in 2019. I felt honored that they had invited me to document their special day … especially after getting to know the family! (They are a fun bunch!) We scheduled a lovely engagement session in late-January 2020, and I recall being a bit nervous about the unpredictability of the weather that week. Looking back, the weather would be the least of our worries as the wedding season continued. Little did we know, the entire globe would be turned upside down a few short weeks later.
I don’t think many people could have ever imagined that a novel coronavirus would have such a pronounced impact around the world as it did in 2020. Under normal conditions, the wedding industry is estimated to be worth $300 billion each year. Huge. But COVID-19 turned that industry flat on its back … along with the wedding dreams of couples around the world.
Kayla and Aaron were not alone in having difficult conversations about how to proceed. In fact, up until a few weeks before their wedding date, they were planning to move forward with original plans. However, the couple felt moved to adjust their plans to say “I do” in a smaller, intimate wedding ceremony this year, while planning for a larger celebration in 2021.
A smaller wedding does not mean it was any less special or any less beautiful. Kayla wore a beautiful off the shoulder gown from Belle Amour Bridal. Florals in bold colors from Gardenview Flowers set the mood before a classy, private dinner with their closest family and friends at Brandywine Country Club in Maumee, Ohio. The couple enjoyed their perfect day before taking a much-needed mini-moon, and I look forward to more intimate wedding ceremonies this year!
It was such a pleasure to witness this special day for Kayla and Aaron. Wishing them overflowing happiness!
