Colorful Backyard Fall Wedding in Rural Northwest Ohio
October 17, 2020
Megan and Derek’s wedding day was such a dream! In hindsight, changes to their original wedding plans due to the pandemic proved to be a blessing. Everything came together for a perfect, colorful backyard fall wedding in rural Northwest Ohio.
Megan and Derek first met at work at Bass Pro Shop in 2016. Their love story continued through college and was sealed with a proposal at his family’s property along the Toussaint River in Oak Harbor, Ohio. The property is home to Moore Orchards, and it is their favorite place to watch sunsets! I can attest to the beauty of the location … and we were sure to include some photos at the orchard while taking their wedding portraits. Continue scrolling to catch a glimpse of the groom stopping for a snack! 😉🍏
Their wedding day came together with the help of both of their families. Derek’s parents’ property was turned into a fall oasis. The backyard was full of fall colors, and their renovated barn was transformed into a glamorous hall thoughtfully decorated for a formal affair.
After the couple’s emotional First Look, we made a special stop to see Megan’s grandparents at home before the ceremony … though Grandma and Grandpa made a surprise visit to see them wed from the car at the ceremony after all. There were absolutely gorgeous weather conditions for a fall wedding in rural Northwest Ohio. The sunny, blue skies made it comfortable for guests to observe them taking their vows until the sun set. Then, the property was lit by twinkling lights everywhere!
Guests dined on a wonderful meal before enjoying sweet treats made with love by the couple’s sister-in-law. Then, the wide open dance floor came alive, and let me tell you … the groom was the first one out there! 🕺🏼 I stood next to the bride as she watched her new husband cutting a rug and asked, “Does he ever slow down?” She answered with a grin, “No … not so much.” 😌
Megan appreciates that their unique personalities bring a comforting balance to their lives. On their wedding day, she said that she is excited to begin their life together and take whatever life throws at them hand in hand! Well, 2020 has certainly been a testimony to that, and I know that they will live a happy life by one another’s side!
Congratulations to Megan and Derek! Wishing you all the best!
